Despite the emotions of Senior Day and the Lone Survivor game, the Red Raiders suffered their third straight loss as Kansas State rolled to a 49-26 win.
After Oklahoma and Oklahoma State ran the ball the past two weeks with great success, it was no secret what Kansas State planned to do. The Wildcats racked up 282 yards rushing in the game as they scored five touchdowns on their first five possessions to open up a 35-10 lead. The Wildcats had 218 yards rushing in the first half.
Red Raider QB Davis Webb was replaced in the 2nd quarter by Baker Mayfield, who provided a third quarter spark with a 4 yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 35-16. Ryan Bustin's Extra Point was blocked..snapping the Nation's Longest PAT Streak at 257. Mayfield finished 34-44 for 260 yards, 2 INT.
With their lead cut to 16, Kansas state added another TD run and Ty Zimmerman intercepted a Mayfield pass and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown to balloon the lead to 30. SaDale Foster had a 5 yard touchdown run to close out the scoring.
18 Red Raiders Seniors played their last game at Jones AT&T Stadium. The average attendance this year was a record 57, 932.
The Red Raiders fall to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in Conference. Next Saturday at 6 in Arlington, they face an undefeated Top 5 team in Baylor.
