South Plains Fair Sees Loss In Profits In 2004

The games have been packed up and the rides have been taken down. However, the rain and mud remain three days after the South Plains Fair.

The fair ended its nine day run, this past Saturday. It rained during five of those nine days, causing a significant drop in attendance. Nearly 26,000 less people attended the fair this year, than in 2003. Those numbers and a new free admission policy for kids meant a 20% decrease in gate fees, and a 7% drop in carnival profits.
