A Lubbock city councilman says he does not support a pay raise given to Lubbock Power and Light's newly hired attorney.
This past Monday, the Electric Utility Board voted to give LP&L Attorney Todd Kimbrough a $60,000 raise, bringing his annual salary to $210,000.
Now, Councilman Todd Klein is speaking out.
Klein released a statement Saturday saying he believes the action requires an amendment to LP&L's current budget. Because of that, Klein says the issue should have come before the council for approval.
"I oppose this pay raise," Klein said, "and I intend to present this item at the next regularly scheduled city council meeting for appropriate consideration and possible action."
