LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Jury selection is expected to begin at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the trial of a Lubbock man accused of killing his girlfriend in 2012.

43-year-old Steve Ballesteros is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Maria Perez.

Police say Ballesteros admitted to strangling Perez in April 2012 at her home near 45th and Elgin after she accused him of cheating.

Police say that Ballesteros later returned to the scene, taunted police, then led them on a car chase.

Ballesteros remains behind bars with a bond set at $500,000.
