NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 34-year-old Hudson woman for possession of a controlled substance and endangering a child after a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

Dawn Thompson Cummings is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on two third-degree felony charges - endangering a child and possession of a controlled substance between 1 and 4 grams. Collectively, her bail has been set at $17,500.

According to the arrest affidavit, NCSO deputies made a traffic stop on Cummings' vehicle on U.S. Highway 59 South for driving on an unimproved shoulder. When the deputies made contact with her, she appeared to be nervous.

After Cummings gave consent for the NCSO deputies to search her vehicle, they allegedly located four packages containing 3.5 grams of methamphetamine in the middle console.

When the deputies questioned Cummings, she allegedly admitted to being in route to deliver the drug to a location in Nacogdoches. Cummings also had a 4-year-old child the car with her.

Cummings was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail. The 4-year-old was turned over to Child Protective Services.

According to a press release, the NCSO deputies learned that Cummings allegedly had more drugs at her house in Hudson. After they got permission to search her home, NCSo deputies, Angelina County Sheriff's deputies, and officers from the Hudson Police Department allegedly found more drugs.

The law enforcement officers found 10 more grams of meth, 6 grams of cocaine, and several different types of prescription medication at Cummings' residence.

Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges said more charges could be pending against Cummings. The additional charges will be filed in Angelina County because the narcotics were found in Cummings' Hudson residence.
