Lubbock raised singer/songwriter Emily Earle is trying to make a name for herself in the music industry after appearing on NBC's The Voice.
Emily said her appearance on The Voice happened purely by chance. A friend passed on an audition tape of Emily and she was given the opportunity.
Her nerves didn't seem to be an issue until the people backstage on the show reminded her that she was being watched by millions of people.
Emily was then handed a microphone, pushed on stage, and her nerves set in.
She sang Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire, a song she grew up singing.
Even though Emily didn't make it past the knockout stages of the contest, she said she received some great words of encouragement.
Emily said, "Ceelo came backstage, paused the filming for a little bit, and said, 'You know, I want to let you know that you can't give up and you've got to keep going because I think you've got it and I know I'm going to see you on stage someday.'"
Emily says that her big dream is to be signed with a major company touring and playing the songs she loves.
