The FAA is investigating a plane crash that killed a family from Canyon on Monday, Nov. 11.

Their single engine plane left Lubbock late Sunday night, but air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane around 1:30 a.m. Monday after two aborted landing attempts.

The plane crashed 2 miles from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.

Authorities say there was heavy fog in the area at the time of the crash.

Dr. Robin Capt was Assistant Professor of Education at West Texas A&M, Dr. William Capt practiced medicine in Canyon and Dimmitt, and their son, William, was a junior Pre-Med major at West Texas A&M.

The family was in Lubbock visiting family.
