I am fortunate at KCBD in that I have the pleasure of working with some of the best of the best in this industry.
If you've watched local television to any extent in the last 30 years, I'm sure you'll agree Karin McCay is the best at what she does.
She stands alone in her field as a gifted storyteller, a knowledgeable and trusted health reporter, and just plain hard worker.
That combination is just one of the reasons she and some of the KCBD crew were just awarded a television Emmy for their reporting on the South Plains Honor Flight.
Karin McCay along with editor Jason Cannon, photographer Caleb Holder, and reporter Sarah-Blake Morgan should be commended for this rare and prestigious honor.
Now consider this:
I know I speak for Karin and the others when I say it is always nice to be recognized for just doing what we love. Having said that, this award is really about the men and women who sacrificed so much to give us the freedom to do what we love.
The South Plains Honor Flight represents a small thanks to those veterans. and having the opportunity to tell their stories is an honor. The Academy of Arts and Sciences say this award is for "Outstanding Achievement In Specialty Assignment Report," but it is so much more than an assignment.
It will be a constant reminder in this station that our veterans are the true honorees.
