What does is it mean when a receptionist tells you "The doctor is really busy today, but the nurse practitioner could see you?" Well, you can learn all about that and other advanced training among nurses today, thanks to Texas Tech's Community Medical School.
If you're just learning about it, good news, you've only missed one class, out of a total of 8 this year. And after this next class on Tuesday, you can take a special tour of the simulation center, which is top of the line.
"This is going to be an optional experience, we're going to take them to the wonderful simulation center at Texas Tech, where they can see how residents, physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses learn how to do procedures and take care of patients before they actually do them," says keynote speaker Dr. Emily Merrill.
Community Medical School is once a month in the Academic Classroom Building at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. Registration is at 5:30, and the class is from 6 to 7, with the tour following.
