West Texas Farmers Look To Congress For Disaster Relief

As we've seen too much rain can be troublesome, but the lack of it can be even more devastating.

Last year West Texas Farmers lost 1.3 million acres of crops to drought. While many looked for compensation in crop insurance, not all losses were covered. That's why District 19 Congressman Randy Neugebauer sponsored the Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Bill that passed the House on Wednesday. "It's going to provide much needed disaster relief for the farming and ranching families in Texas," Neugebauer said.

The bill would provide relief for crops damaged in 2003 and 2004. Congressman Charlie Stenholm wanted to give farmers emergency relief, but it failed to pass the house.
