There's been a lot of talk about foster children, adopted children and the "system" lately. It's been driven mainly by news and commentary of one particular horrific situation.
You'll recall the story of a Lubbock couple now in jail charged with child abuse. They adopted 10 foster children and are now accused of basically starving one of them.
And news of that one case should not shed negative light on other caring foster parents on the South Plains.
The reality is there are still hundreds of children in need of loving families to care for them.
Adoption and foster care are, in most cases, the best scenario for children caught up in the "system."
If you've ever felt compelled to foster or adopt a child, please look into it. There are children in need and there are good families that can help. Of course, it's not for everyone.
But, if your family is in a situation to help, and your motivation is purely love and compassion, these children need you.
