Lubbock police are investigating an overnight brawl in the Depot District. It happened at 17th and Texas around 2:30 a.m.
Witnesses say it all began as two groups of men argued over which university was better, Texas Tech, or U.T. The fight escalated in the street, as one group attempted to leave. Witness Ronald Gene Brown, Jr. said, " Three of them went up to the drivers side and started pounding the driver. He just went ahead and sped and dragged two of them down , but only one hung on and that's the one I found in the street and tried to help him out."
The dragging victim was taken to University Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV has been identified. However, police say no arrests will be made until the investigation is complete.
