Record cold expected Saturday morning

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Record cold is likely across the South Plains Saturday morning.

Lows will drop to 3 above in Muleshoe to 7 in Lubbock, which will break the old record of 8 set in 2005.

Single digits will occur as far south as Brownfield and Post. Slush and today's water puddles will be black ice in the morning causing icy spots.

The afternoon highs will range from 12-18 degrees with a chance of light snow and some accumulations, mostly in light amounts.

Sunday morning will again be in the single digits, but the afternoon will be warmer as we move into the 30s.
