CLAREMORE, Okla. (December 7, 2013) – Nicole Hampton set a career high with 31 points and added 11 rebounds to complete her 27th career double-double and Lubbock Christian University improved their win streak to six games with an 84-65 Heartland Conference win over Rogers State University Saturday afternoon at Claremore Expo Center.

Hampton, whose previous career high was 29 points, was 9-of-13 from the field, 3-of-3 from three-point range and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. She also had six assists and a pair of steals. Hampton produced 17 of her points in the opening half and then followed with a 5-for-7 shooting performance in the second half.

She opened the game with the contest's first seven points as part of a 9-0 run to open the game for LCU. The Lady Chaps forced RSU into a 2-of-11 shooting stretch, with three turnovers included, in the opening six minutes to take a 16-4 lead. RSU didn't back down, as they went on a 15-4 run to cut LCU's lead to 20-19 with 8:47 to go in the half.

Clarissa Cannon spearheaded the charge with six of her 10 points in the first half. LCU's Hannah Harbin countered with her third three-point field goal of the season for some breathing room, and LCU had a 12-5 run late in the first half to build the lead to 37-26 with 2:46 to go in the half. Emily Pool tallied 12 points in the half to go along with Hampton's 17 points for a 42-31 Lady Chaparrals lead at the half. LCU had a 24-15 rebound advantage in the half.

Neither team was able to build any runs in the opening 11 minutes of the second half. LCU never led by less than eight points and by more than 16 points in the 11-minute span, with the lead fluctuating in between. LCU, who shot just 39% (11/28) in the first half, maintained the pace early in the second half, opening the half 4-of-10 from the field. That would change as they would go 9-of-13 from the field to close out the game.

Katy Harsen was on an offensive binge in the second half for the Hillcats. She tallied nine points from the line in the half and produced seven more from the field for 16 points in the half. Harsen's efforts in the half helped RSU cut LCU's lead to 71-63 with five minutes remaining, as RSU went on a 12-2 run. Hampton's jumper with just under four minutes to go ended the run and it helped LCU close out the game on a 13-2 run to seal the win. LCU was 47.1% (24/51) from the field in the game, going 56.5% (13/23) in the second half.

LCU had their best free-throw shooting performance of at least 15 attempts since Feb. 16, 2012 (at St. Gregory's, where they were 16-of-17 for 94.1%), as they were 28-of-30 (93.3%) from the line. They opened the game 12-of-12 and closed the game 7-of-7 from the line.

Hampton's double-double was the second of the season and the 27th of her career. She was joined in double figures offensively by Emily Pool (19 points) and Kelsey Hoppel (11 points). RSU, who was held to a 35.6% (21/59) shooting percentage, was led by Harsen's 21-point outing. Cannon was held to four points in the second half and finished with 14 points.

The Lady Chaps six-game win streak places their overall mark at 8-1 on the season. They remain perfect in Heartland Conference play at 4-0. RSU falls to 1-4 in conference and 2-6 overall. LCU remains in Heartland Conference action on the road next Saturday, visiting Oklahoma Christian University.
