Microsoft beefing up security to prevent gov. snooping

Microsoft plans to increase its data security to prevent government snooping.

According to the Washington Post, the NSA was intercepting traffic inside Google's and Yahoo!'s private networks.

Now, Microsoft fears that the government may have broken into their global communications links as well.

Microsoft plans to encrypt the data flowing through all of its communication, productivity and other services.

Google and Yahoo!, which also have global networks, have announced that they will also move forward with encryption initiatives.
