Junior tight end Jace Amaro has been named a First Team All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation. This year's team is the 124th edition making the Walter Camp All-America team the oldest in the nation.

Amaro, a native of San Antonio, is one of six Big 12 student-athletes represented on the first team and marks his second All-America honor in an as many days. He was named to the USA Today First Team All-America team on Wednesday. The Walter Camp All-America team is one of five used by the NCAA to determine consensus All-America honors.

Amaro is closing in on two all-time single-season NCAA records by a tight end in both receptions and receiving yards. He enters the bowl game with 98 receptions and 1,240 receiving yards. The all-time NCAA record in these categories by a tight end is 111 receptions and 1,329 receiving yards – both records are held by former Rice tight end James Casey who set each of the records during the 2008 season. Amaro needs 14 receptions and 90 receiving yards to become the new NCAA single-season leader.

Prior to this season, Michael Crabtree was the last Red Raider honored by the Walter Camp Foundation as he was a two-time selection in 2007 and 2008.
