The government is working on a plan to make sure those who need the flu vaccine the most, get it but here in Lubbock, your chances are decreasing.
The City of Lubbock Health Department still has flu vaccines for high risk children ages 3 to 18. But the term "high risk" is being redefined. Now those remaining doses can only go to kids with Medicaid or those without health insurance. To find out if you qualify, call the City of Lubbock Health Department at (806) 775-2933.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has not heard when it will get another round of vaccines. Aventis only has 22 million doses of the vaccine left to distribute nationwide. You'll recall, the shortage is blamed on the closure of British manufacturer Chiron.
