The Lubbock County Republican Party has accepted the withdrawal of Justice of the Peace Jean Anne Stratton and will reopen the filing for JOP Precinct 4 until 6 p.m. Monday.

After consultation with Senator Robert Duncan's office and the Secretary of State Elections Division, the Lubbock County Republican Party has determined they can accept a withdrawal with or without a notorization.

They released this statement on Friday:

"Therefore, the withdrawal of Justice of the Peace Jean Anne Stratton, is hereby accepted by the Lubbock County Republican Party under authority of the LCRP Chairman Carl Tepper.

"When an incumbent resigns after the close of the original filing deadline, State law requires that the LCRP reopen filing for that office. Filing for Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 is hereby reopened until Monday, December 16, 2013 until 6PM. Any candidates wishing to file to run for the office may call Chairman Carl Tepper at 806-470-2354, to receive the filing materials, candidate packets, and for general information."
