Country superstar Reba McEntire wowed the crowds Friday night at L'auberge Casino & Resort, but it was pre-concert visit that gave a 16-year-old girl a chance to meet her idol.
ReAnn Maldonado was diagnosed with a blood disorder called tricuspid atresia. As a Make A Wish Child her wish was to meet Reba, who she fell in love with after watching the "Reba" sitcom. So they brought the Fresno, California native and her family down to Lake Charles for the weekend.
"It was great to meet her. I love her and want to be like her when I grow up. I love her song 'I'm a Survivor' from her show," said ReAnn.
Reba and ReAnn talked about all kinds of stuff, including Reba's favorite song Fancy.
"And the reason I like Fancy so much is because I'm a huge fan of Dolly Parton. And Dolly Parton always had songs that told a story and that's what Fancy is and that's why it's my favorite to perform," said Reba.
Reba also said giving back is one of her favorite parts of the job.
"What we get to do is what we love to do. We get to travel and to meet great people like ReAnn and to be able to make her smile and getting her a trip to Louisiana to come and to see the show -- that makes us work harder and makes us feel great that she's got this great smile on her face," said Reba.
