Salvation Army and Toys for Tots help needy families

Posted: Updated:

The Salvation Army partnered with Toys for Tots to distribute thousands of toys to needy families in the Lubbock area on Monday.

The Angel Tree and Toys for Tots program will provide toys for 5,000 children.

This is the second year of the partnership, and both organizations said none of it would be possible without the community's help.

"I feel like these families are enjoying themselves coming in here and shopping," said Justin Eatherly with the Salvation Army, "and I feel like the stuff that they're getting is really great. The community did a good job shopping for these Xmas gifts."

The toy distribution will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday. It's open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is located at the old United Supermarket location along the Marsha Sharp and 29th Dr.
