Exclusive: Henderson police chief talks about resignation

14News talked exclusively today with outgoing Henderson Police Chief, John Reed, about his resignation and about his future plans.

Yesterday, it was confirmed that Reed would be leaving his post for other opportunities.

He told us today that some of those opportunities are in law enforcement and some are not.

Reed also said the opportunities are both in and out of state.

As for his reason for resigning, Reed said he wants to slow down a bit and do some traveling.

He's been in law enforcement for over 35 years - seven of those as police chief in Henderson.

Reed's last day in the office is tomorrow.  He's taking some vacation time.

Reed is not sure when his last official day as police chief will be.

An announcement is expected tomorrow on who will be interim chief.
