SEARCY, AR (KAIT) – An early Friday morning shooting led to the death of a Searcy mother. Police say her daughter is now in jail accused of murder.

According to the Searcy Police Department, officers responded to shots fired at the parking lot of Big Lots just after midnight Friday.

The victim in the shooting was Dina Darden, 50, of Searcy. She was taken to a White County hospital where she later died.

Witnesses told police a red Ford F150 had fled the parking lot. They also told police the driver of the truck had shot someone. Police attempted to pull the truck over and eventually did after an Arkansas State Police trooper used spike strips.

The driver of the truck Alexandria Williams, 33, of Searcy was taken into custody and charged with first degree murder. She is now in the White County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond and will appear in court on Feb. 4.

Williams is Darden's daughter.

Police say Darden worked at Big Lots and had just finished her shift when she was shot. The motive behind the shooting is being investigated.
