FRANKLIN COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – In an attempt to get out of a DUI traffic stop, a man pretended to be a police officer, even flashing a badge.

"Mr. Kessinger identified himself as an Anderson County constable and flashed a badge at the deputy," said Sheriff Pat Melton of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. "The deputy then asked to see his credentials with a picture and he said I don't have any."

Just after 8:30 Thursday night, an off duty Lawrenceburg police officer was behind Christopher Kessinger's Ford pickup on I-64 westbound. Kessinger was allegedly weaving in and out of the highway lanes.

After being pulled over, the 34-year-old was apparently very jittery, could not stand, had constricted pupils and was sweating profusely.

The arresting officer made a couple of phone calls and confirmed Kessinger wasn't a constable and had never been an officer.

Kessinger was taken to jail without his fake badge.
