Monterey head football coach, athletic coordinator stepping down

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

On Friday, Dec. 20, Monterey High School's head football coach and athletic coordinator, Todd Pearson, announced that he will be stepping down from his position.

Lubbock ISD released statements from both Todd Pearson and LISD executive director of athletics, Mark Ball:

"I notified Coach Mark Ball today of my intent to step down as head football coach and athletic coordinator for Monterey High School. I am very proud of the programs at Monterey, and have been blessed to work with many great athletes and coaches. My sincere appreciation goes to the parents, students, and the Lubbock Independent School District for giving me the opportunity to lead Plainsmen athletics. I wish you continued success," said Todd Pearson.

Mark Ball said, "Coach Pearson is a man of integrity and character. His dealings with players, coaching staff and game officials are always professional and courteous. He has led the Plainsmen to the playoffs four of the past five football seasons, but more importantly he has been a positive role model for his student athletes and prepared them for living a life of character."
