Driving safely this holiday season

Posted: Updated:

When is the most dangerous time of year to hit the road? According to a new study, during the holidays.

The new study of crash records from Thanksgiving to the New Year finds the most hazardous days on the road are actually the 6 days surrounding Christmas, from December 21st, which is tomorrow, through December 26th, next Thursday

"There is a lot of traffic out where people are shopping. The more you can avoid that the more likely you are to avoid being in a crash. It's really that simple," says Dr. Allen Parrish who is with the Center for Advanced Public Safety.

Doctor Parrish and his team at the center for advanced public safety analyzed 10 years of holiday crashes to come up with those red flag days. He also found the worst times were between 4 and 7 o'clock.

Luckily, there were not an unusually high number of fatalities. But, there is the highest number of crashes during that holiday rush. So, be careful out there.

According to the professor, the fender bender frenzy starts tomorrow.
