Shallowater High School senior Cameron Knight has been named to the Dave Schuman's National Underclassmen High School All-American Team. Knight, a 6'3" 250 pound Tight End for the Shallowater Mustangs, will play for the South Team in the National Underclassmen All-Star Game on December 30th at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A Texas State Bobcat commit, Knight is a three-time First Team All-District Tight End for the Mustangs and started the season as the #4 ranked Tight End in the state of Texas according to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. He was also named to the Pre-Season All-State Team by Fuel Recruiting as well as being listed on the Top O' Texas Super Team. Recent accomplishments include being named to the First Team Academic All-State Football Team in addition to receiving the Wendy's High School Heisman Award for his school, an award based on athletic and academic performance as well as community leadership. Knight helped lead the Mustangs to back-to-back undefeated District Championships the past two seasons as a two way starter and a 13-1 State Quarter Finalists team this season. He finished the season with 33 receptions for 463 yards with 7 touchdowns for the Mustangs and has continued to climb in the national recruiting rankings. Knight remains verbally committed to Texas State, but has been hearing from SEC, PAC-12, and Mountain West schools.
This is the fourth year for the National Underclassmen All-Star event which has featured many notable players such as Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M University and season long Heisman Award contender Marcus Mariota of the University of Oregon. The showcase features 100 top NCAA Division 1 prospects from across the nation as selected by a panel of national recruiting analysts.
