An Amarillo girl told police she had been kidnapped and escaped from a Lubbock home on July 20. SWAT deployed to raid the home and the girl was returned to her parents.
Decensae White, who played forward for Bobby Knight in the 2006-2007 season, was charged with the murder of a Georgia rapper named Lil Phat on May 24,
United announced their sale to Albertsons on Sept. 9. United reassured customers that they would remain an independent business unit and the names of the stores would not change.
A winter storm shut down schools and created hazardous road conditions on Feb. 24.
Beloved radio personality Kidd Kraddick passed away on July 27.
Lubbock police officer Timothy Varner was shot while confronting a man outside a Salvation Army shelter on Oct. 12. He went on to recover from his wounds and attend a UMC fundraiser in his honor.
7-year-old Randa Westbrook was injured in a pit bull attack on June 27. She went on to recover from her injuries and receive plastic surgery. The firemen who came to her rescue were honored by the Red Cross.
