Walking to Help Promote Healthy Hearts

Heart disease is the #1 killer in this country and stroke is #3. Listen to what that means in terms of people.

"So, together these two diseases, heart disease and stroke, kill about 930,000 people per year. Nationally, you put that into perspective, that's one every 29 seconds," says Dr. M. Roy Wilson, President of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Wilson and his wife Suzanne are co-chairing the heart walk this year. You can register to walk or ride a bike in the Heart Walk on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Frasier Pavilion on the Tech campus.

For more information, you can call (806) 762-6599. There will be activities for the whole family out there including a health fair with some screenings.
