LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This week, Pay It Forward started out along 82nd Street just east of Slide Road. We set up with our Pay It Forward sign in search of this week's playmaker.
Edward Rodriguez was the first person to spot our sign. Edward knew exactly who he wanted to help out.
For the first time in Pay It Forward history, a charity organization was chosen. Edward decided that he wanted to help out Lubbock Meals on Wheels.
Edward is a native of San Antonio. While he lived there, he had a job with Meals on Wheels. This was his first job and the experience had a huge impact on his life. He saw many people in need and the memory of helping them stayed in his heart.
Edward knows that many people are elderly and have nobody else to check on them. Edward decided to use this opportunity to help an organization that is very special to him.
We followed Edward to the Lubbock Meals on Wheels facility on 34th Street and were greeted by a volunteer. She took us to Lisa Gilliland, Program Director at Lubbock Meals on Wheels.
Lisa was completely shocked. Edward paid out $300 to Meals on Wheels and received a big hug and a thank you for having such a giving heart.
Be looking for our Pay It Forward sign. You may become our next playmaker...
