LPD investigating deadly accident in central Lubbock

One man is dead after a fatal car accident early Friday morning.

The accident happened just before 1:00 a.m. at 34th Street and the Interstate-27 Access Road.

Police say Abraham Molina, 26, was traveling in a pick-up driven by Jonathan Perez, 28, headed westbound on 34th street when the truck was hit by a car driven by Fabian Garcia, 25.

Investigators say Garcia was headed southbound and ran a red light.

First responders took Perez to the hospital with critical injuries.

Molina was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries and later died at the hospital.

Garcia's passenger, Alexandria Guadalupe Yepe, 24, suffered minor injuries, while Garcia received no injuries.

According to the police report, alcohol or drugs could have been a factor in this wreck.

Accident investigators will be closing down the intersection at 34th and I-27 at 9 a.m. Sunday to further evaluate the scene of the accident.
