Two Year-Old Dead After Hit and Run

A 53 year-old man is in jail Sunday after fleeing the scene of a hit and run accident Saturday night that left a two year-old boy dead. Guadalupe Perez-Vargas was arrested near the Berl Huffman Complex just before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. He is charged with intoxicated assault.

He fled the scene of the accident at Clovis Road and North Loop 289 just after 9 p.m. Saturday. Police say Perez-Vargas slammed into the back of a car that was stopped at a stop light on Clovis Road and then he fled on foot.

The three people in the other car 29 year-old Wendy Loveall, 21 year-old Crystal Travino, and her two year-old son Kaleb were taken to University Medical Center. The little boy died at the hospital. Travino and Loveall were both treated and released.
