A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the intersection of Slide Road and Marshall Street at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10.
The ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the new Slide Road extension.
The road now extends north all the way to Highway 84.
Councilwoman Latrelle Joy says the project will benefit everyone in the city.
"There will be more rooftops, there will be more businesses, restaurants, and other facilities. That will be added to tax roles, which is good for everybody," said Joy.
The new section is expected to open to traffic next week.
The expansion was part of the Northwest Passage Project that cost nearly $5.5 million.
