It's no stretch to say the Texas Tech basketball programs are struggling this season. The men are 8-8 so far, 0-3 in the Big 12, and have lost six of their last eight games.
The women are 6-9, 0-4 in conference play, and have lost their last five games.
Those kinds of deficits are hard for players and coaches. Any losing streak takes a toll on your confidence, your focus, your attitude, and it creates negative momentum - so the red and black need your help as they hit the halfway point in the season.
I couldn't help but notice at the last home game the lack of fans in the stands, and as is in any competitive sport, fan support can be the difference between winning and losing.
There are seven home games left for the men and women's teams, including a chance for the men to redeem themselves against Texas in the last game of the season.
So if you are a Red Raider or Lady Raider basketball fan, and you aren't attending the games, please consider it. I think the players, Coach Smith and Coach Whitaker would agree, you play a bigger role than you might think.
