Ropes ISD teacher voluntarily resigns

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Investigators say a teacher with Ropes ISD has resigned following accusations that she had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Ropes Superintendent Gary Lehnen told us over the phone that the teacher in question came into his office and voluntarily resigned on Thursday but he wouldn't identify the teacher or student involved.

Lehnen said there is an ongoing investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.

Ropesville Police Chief Ashley Ramirez confirmed that they have been looking into what happened for the past week. He said the Texas Rangers are involved, and there is no time table for when the investigation will be completed.

We'll continue to update this story as we learn more.
