(WMC-TV) - A manhunt is underway after a Trustmark Bank in Cordova was robbed Thursday morning.

As business was just getting started for day just, a man walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.

The suspect only used a note to rob the bank, he did not pull out any type of weapon. After the teller gave him the cash from the drawer, the suspect took off in a gray Chevy Monte Carlo.

Investigators believe he made it to the interstate heading east.

In the meantime, the Trustmark Bank on Houston Levee Road near Macon Road is closed. Customers are asked to go to other bank branches for the time being.

"We've had some bank robberies in the past," said the Shelby County Sheriff's Office public information officer, Chip Washington. "They're random in nature. You know folks make conscious decisions about what they want to do, and this was the particular bank that was hit this morning."

Shelby County Sheriff's Office is turning over the reigns in the case to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Bank robbery is a federal crime.
