Nearly a dozen restaurants make the Food for Thought menu this week, but they're not all top performers.

KCBD NewsChannel 11's Christy Hartin dishes out the details.

We begin at Lucky Mart at 2012 N. Ash where inspectors found 7 critical violations.

  • Multiple items were not at least 135 degrees.
  • An employee did not wash their hands before putting on gloves.
  • Eggs were stored above cheese.
  • A toxic item was not labeled.
  • There was no tip-sensitive thermometer in the facility.
  • A cutting board and knives were dirty.
  • The report shows management did not demonstrate food safety knowledge.

The violations were corrected during the inspection.

Next we head to Cancun Mexican Restaurant at 7905 University. They had 9 critical violations.

  • Chili rellenos and rice were not at least 135 degrees.
  • An employee did not properly wash their hands before putting on gloves.
  • Several sharply dented cans were stored with good ones.
  • Several raw items were stored above ready to eat foods in the walk-in cooler.
  • A napkin with blood on it was next to a package of tortillas.
  • Numerous food items did not have an expiration date.
  • Toxic items were stored next to food items.
  • The inside of the ice machine was dirty.
  • The report shows management did not demonstrate food safety knowledge.

The report shows all violations were corrected while the inspector was there.

Rockfish Seafood Grill at 6253 Slide was cited with 9 critical violations

  • Cooked shrimp was not at least 135 degrees.
  • Employees were not properly washing their hands. They were using cool water instead of hot.
  • There was no soap or paper towels at a hand sink.
  • An uncovered drink was on the ice machine.
  • An employee handled ready to eat shrimp and salad with their bare hands.
  • Raw fish and ground beef were stored above ready to eat sausage and desserts.
  • Milk and sausage did not have a proper date mark.
  • The microwave was dirty, and stored knives were heavily soiled.
  • The report shows management did not demonstrate food safety knowledge.

Management tells us all violations were corrected at the time of the inspection.
