Muleshoe man killed in Thursday night accident

LAMB COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

Texas DPS is investigating a fatal car accident that happened northwest of Lubbock Thursday night.

A Muleshoe man, 76-year-old James Black, lost his life in the accident that happened just after 9:30 p.m. on Highway 70, around five miles west of Earth.

Authorities say the driver of a freight truck was trying to make a U-turn when he got stuck in a ditch. Troopers say the trailer took up the entire roadway.

Black was driving a pickup truck west on the highway when investigators say he drove into the center of the freight truck.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the freight truck was not injured.
