Police: Two arrested after police chase, car crash

Two people were arrested following a shots fired call that turned into a police chase and car crash.

Police responded to shots fired at 1300 N. Belmont. on Sunday at 2:44 a.m. Officers located the suspect vehicle at 500 Frankford Ave., which fled when officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

The car was involved in a single-vehicle crash at 19th St. and Kewanee Ave. Two of the five suspects in the vehicle fled on foot after the crash.

The driver, 18-year-old Mason Barron, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, unlawful carrying of a weapon and evading arrest.

Another was also arrested and charged with juvenile evading of arrest.

All occupants in the car have been identified.
