Lubbock man facing charges in Tuesday hit and run

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock man is being charged in a hit and run incident that injured a Pre-K student Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. at 1000 East 28th Street.

Police say a student was getting off a school bus when a white Ford Taurus traveling westbound disregarded the school bus stop sign and flashing lights and hit the child.

LISD representatives say the student was hit and knocked into a dumpster and suffered cuts to his head.

The child has moderate injuries.

Police say 38-year-old Andre James fled the scene but was later located and arrested.

James is being charged with failure to stop and render aid.
