UIL realignment information released Monday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) released big news affecting all high schools around the South Plains and the state of Texas on Monday.

The UIL released the newly formed districts and reclassifications of teams across the Lone Star State. The addition of a brand new 6A conference means schools will be jumping up a classification and Six-Man football will now be considered 1A.

Frenship, Coronado and Monterey made the jump to 6A, joining Amarillo High and Tascosa in 6A District 2 competition.

Lubbock-Cooper, Lubbock High and Plainview made the jump to 5A, joining Abilene Cooper and San Angelo Lake View in 5A District 4. The Cooper Pirates were a 3A school before the realignment.
