LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Crime Line is now offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the prosecution of the suspect involved in a Dairy Queen robbery on Saturday, Feb. 1.

One victim is still in critical condition after being severely beaten by the suspect.

Lubbock police released surveillance video of the attack last Monday.

A frightening scene unfolds as a man wearing all black and a tan mask rushes in through the back door of the central Lubbock Dairy Queen.

You can see one of the employees, Mary Cazarez, immediately hold up her hands to surrender and comply with the suspect's demands.

Despite her cooperation, the suspect still strikes her with an aluminum baseball bat.

Cazarez is clearly petrified as she rushes to get the money out of the safe and the suspect runs away.

But perhaps the most chilling part of the night was the conversation between Cazarez and a 911 dispatcher.

"Oh my god, he's bleeding, his head! I need a paramedic fast! His head is bleeding. He's full of blood," Cazarez screams after finding her coworker Jesse Rios outside of the restaurant near a dumpster.

Homicide detectives were called to the 69th Street and University Avenue location around 1 a.m. Rios was taking out the trash when he was brutally beaten with a baseball bat.

Rios has been upgraded from critical to serious condition at University Medical Center as of Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Cazarez was treated and released.

Although the suspect was covered head to toe, Sergeant Jason Lewis says someone may actually be able to recognize the baseball bat. Investigators are looking for something very specific.

"Maybe they'll recognize that baseball bat that had the end that was missing…the cap that was missing out of it," Sgt. Lewis said.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding this suspect. There is a $1,000 reward.

"If you know anything about it, the damage is being done to innocent victims. So please help us out," Sgt. Lewis said.

Police say the suspect is a Hispanic male, 5'8", 140 pounds, seen wearing all black with a tan mask.

If you have any information about this incident, police ask that you call Crime Line at 741-1000.

Jesse's employer says his medical bills will be covered by their insurance, but a fund has been set up to help with other expenses during this difficult time. If you'd like to help, you can go to any City Bank and ask for the "Jesse Rios Fund."
