Lubbock Officer On Administrative Leave Following Deadly Shooting In North Lubbock

Lubbock Police responded to Acacia Mobile Home Park at 2317 Auburn just after eight o'clock Monday night. That's where police found a man swinging a knife at residents. Police say the man refused to put the knife down and he reportedly advanced toward an officer.

The officer then fired two shots bringing the man down. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. He has been on the force for about a year and a half.

A family member told NewsChannel 11 the victim's name was Paul and that he had a history of paranoid schizophrenia. He was 43-years-old.
