ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Sen. Tom Udall says New Mexico apparently will escape the brunt of the impact of proposed cuts to the U.S. military.
The Albuquerque Journal (http://bit.ly/1holqPH ) reports that the New Mexico Democrat cites Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel's targeting of ground forces for reductions.
And Udall says he hasn't seen anything to indicate that the Army's White Sands Missile Range in southern New Mexico and nearby Fort Bliss in Texas are in danger.
Udall also says the three Air Force bases in New Mexico appear to be well-positioned.
