ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - An Albuquerque firefighter partially fell through a floor in a burning home but escaped injury and made it safely outside.
Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Romero says firefighters entered the home Wednesday morning to search for victims and put out the fire in a room on the home's second floor.
Romero says the firefighters got out of the house and then began fighting the fire from the outside.
The fire department and Albuquerque police are investigating.
Police say they received a 911 call from someone at the home that a man was trying to break in. Police spokeswoman Officer Tasia Martinez says investigators believe the intruder started the fire after entering the home and barricading himself inside.
Martinez says the man was taken into custody when he came outside.
