Plains Cowgirls advance to title game

AUSTIN, TX (KCBD) -

Playing an 8:30 a.m. State Semifinal game didn't slow Plains down as the 12th ranked Cowgirls beat 8th ranked Santo 56-39 in Austin Thursday Morning.

Riley Earnest led Plains with 26 and Tori Reyes added 16 including 4 three pointers.

Plains scored 22 second chance points and outscored Santo 18-6 in the paint.

Plains had 3 Cowgirls provide all their scoring in the first half as Earnest and Reyes each had 11 with Daitlyne Broome adding 8.

Plains led 30-20 at the half.

Plains IS playing in their first ever State Tournament game while Santo was in Austin once before in 1957 losing to eventual State Champ, Lubbock Roosevelt.

29-3 Plains will play the #9 Kerens  for the Class 1A Division I State Title8:30 a.m. Saturday. Kerens beat #10 Weimar 56-36 in the other semifinal.
