Missing East Texas teen Nomei Velazquez was found in Lubbock on Wednesday and the man she traveling with, Juan Fabian Arenas Delacruz, 28, is in custody.
Lubbock police representative Jason Lewis says the suspect vehicle was actually spotted by an off-duty officer.
The silver 2004 Volkswagen Passat was found at a Texas Tech parking area across from Covenant Hospital.
Sheriff Jason Bridges with the Nacogdoches Count Sheriff's Department says Delacruz will face aggravated kidnapping charges in Nacogdoches and may face additional charges in Lubbock before he's turned over to Border Patrol.
Bridges says the young girl is in CPS custody right now and a Nacogdoches sheriff's deputy has been sent to Lubbock to take her back home. She's expected to be back with her family on Friday.
Bridges confirmed that Delacruz is here in the United States illegally, and that the Sheriff's Department worked with multiple other agencies to track the two down, including Border Patrol.
"When law enforcement comes together and work like we should great things happen. We pooled our resources and they put boots on the ground," Bridges said.
Sergeant Jason Lewis with the Lubbock Police Department says Delacruz and Velazquez were found separately.
"He was arrested at the construction site and then he took officers to her at the Sunset Square Motel," Lewis said.
Velazquez was found unharmed, then taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
Lewis says the investigation is still ongoing and authorities are still trying to figure out the relationship between Velazquez and Delacruz.
