Council approves limited raises for 3 city employees

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock City Council approved pay raises for three city employees on Thursday night, but two of them did not receive everything they asked for.

The $3,597 monthly increase for Interim City Attorney Bill Satterwite was approved in full.

City Secretary Becky Garza's raise was approved, but was lower than proposed. She will receive $135,000 annually, retroactive to Feb. 1 of this year. The original recommendation was for $139,236.

The raise for City Manager James Loomis was approved, but was also lower than proposed. He will receive $235,000 annually, retroactive to Feb. 1 of this year. The original recommendation was for 250,000

Here are the current salaries for each city employee per city records:

Loomis: $205,000

Satterwhite: $143,832

Garza: $101,526

Todd Klein voted against the raise for James Loomis, but it passed 6-1.

Todd Klein and Mayor Robertson both voted against the raise for Becky Garza, but it passed 5-2.
