Detecting High Blood Pressure Early

Just when you thought 'Well, at least my blood pressure is okay,' researchers have come up with a new designation that may put you in the hot seat after all. Studies by the CDC and the University of Illinois find that about a third of Americans are on the verge of high blood pressure.

It's a new problem called Pre-Hypertension, and researchers say that diagnosis is important; since 50 million Americans have hypertension and only about a third of them have it under control.

After analyzing the blood pressure data from nearly 3,500 people, researchers decided the best way for Americans to fight hypertension is if doctors will focus on treating or even preventing Pre-Hypertension, before it gets out of control.
