Conditions Of Wayland Students Injured In Head On Collision Improve

One week after an accident killed two Wayland Baptist students and injured seven others, students came together to remember the victims and pray for those still hospitalized.

The traffic accident happened last Wednesday on U.S. Highway 70, 80 miles West of Plainview. A Jeep Cherokee was headed West when the driver hit a car head on. DPS troopers say the sun may have played a role in the accident.

Wayland Baptist students, 19-year-old Katye Mansdoerfer of Albuquerque and 19-year-old Reid Rogers of Plainview were killed. The driver of the jeep, 19-year-old Abby Holmes was released from the hospital Wednesday. All other victims involved have been released except for 21-year-old Jonathan Barnes and Maria Rodriguez. Barnes remains in critical condition at University Medical Center at this hour. Rodriguez has been upgraded to satisfactory condition.
