LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

There are dozens of critical violations on the Food for Thought menu this week - including mouse droppings at a repeat low performer.

KCBD NewsChannel 11's Christy Hartin serves up the scores.

We begin at Hong Kong at 4845 50th. Health inspectors found 13 critical violations.

  • Mouse droppings were found in the dry storage area.
  • Raw beef and eggs were above the safe cold temperature of 41 degrees.
  • Multiple items on the buffet - chicken strips, chicken wings, crab and shrimp - were not at least 135 degrees.
  • An employee did not wash their hands before putting on gloves.
  • Employees' uncovered drinks were in the food prep area.
  • Raw peanuts and cashews were thrown out because they came from an unidentified source.
  • Many cans were heavily dented. This can lead to botulism.
  • Employees handled ready-to-eat green beans and onions with their bare hands.
  • Raw beef was stored above ready-to-eat items. Heavily soiled scoops were stored in containers with dry goods.
  • Numerous ready-to-eat food items did not have a date mark.
  • Buffet plates were cracked and damaged, and other kitchen items were dirty.
  • A spray bottle of cleaner was not labeled.

According to the report, the inspector observed a lack of food safety knowledge due to the nature and the number of violations. It is also noted that there is currently no certified food manager at the facility.

The report shows most violations were corrected during the inspection.

Logan's Roadhouse at 6251 Slide had nine critical violations.

  • Refrigerated ribs and salsa were above 41 degrees.
  • Mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese were not at least 135 degrees.
  • Employees did not wash their hands before putting on gloves.
  • An employee was drinking from uncovered drink in the kitchen.
  • Raw bacon was stored over ready to eat food items, and raw ground beef was stored over raw pork.
  • Coleslaw and cut tomatoes did not have a date mark.
  • A sanitizing solution was not strong enough.
  • The microwave was dirty.

The inspector notes, due to the nature and the number of the violations the manager did not demonstrate proper food safety knowledge.

The report shows most violations were corrected during the inspection.
